So, to take my mind off of stuff, I'm doing the
sunshine_challenge
I meant to do this when it started but never late than never, right? That's what I'm gonna tell myself anyway.
Here's a small collection of ficlets based around Hades and Persephone. I'm going to try and make more tiny stories around them because I find these two very soothing to work with, so yes. Fic is here.
So, I actually work with Hekate as a deity. I had a complicated relationship with her for a long time due to past stuff but now I find her a comfort and a kindness in the form of a deity. I know some people see her as a mother figure, but for me, she is a guide and a confidant as well as an advisor and person to help me feel safe. Her torches being a light in the darkness and beacons of hope and following the howling of her hounds, will lead you through the rough patches.
The poetry collection Lace Bone Beast: Poems & Other Fairytales for Wicked Girls by N.L. Shompole is kind of a Hekate collection in my brain. IF only for the line that I have latched onto that goes:
And if you want it
there will be hope
bright and ravenous
but only if you want it
only if you want it
So, I love this song and have for years. It's fun to sing and very therapeutic if you're having a certain kind of day:
The Dismemberment Song - Blue Kid
I grew up in Florida, but I don't have a lot of associations with the water other than do not like.
I r4ecently went back there, back in May, and it stirred up a lot of shit in my brain. I had a rough childhood and it brought back a lot of memories that make life more complicated now because I have these things weighing in my brain and haven't dealt with them. It's kind of been tumultuous in my head ev3er since then, like a brewing storm that's gonna break out soon.
I know some people love the water, find comfort in the sea and revel in the feeling of water on their skin. I've never been that kind of person and don't expect I ever will be.
