Wrote 600 words of the 2003 NaNo re-write. This means I have started and that is possibly the most important part? It's a complete overhaul so far but I suspect as I go along, I'll be able to keep full chunks and quite a bit of dialogue. I also see other fine lines to walk as I go; hopefully I won't fuck them up too badly.

While I was looking for the 2003 NaNo on the Wayback Machine, I kind of died a little at some of my old website front pages. So sparse, so simple! The one with like four! fandoms, original fic, and a links page was definitely my favorite, lol.

Back to archiving. I'm not going to 'catch up' this weekend, but if I can get down to ~a week behind, I'll be really happy.

Summary: Most people in Shane’s position would call a doctor after two positive tests, but Shane isn't most people, so instead of doing that, he takes 17 tests over the course of two days.

Final result: 16 positive, one negative.

Reccer's Notes: A classic crack trope this time: Mpreg. The reason why a man could become pregnant in this AU isn't given, nor why Shane did nothing to prevent it (or didn't expect it), but it has happened so he faces a choice. This is where the "taken seriously" part comes in, as it's the same difficult choice any woman faces with an unplanned pregnancy. Rather than an unrealistic tropey outcome, Shane (after ignoring the whole problem for a while) finally talks to Ilya about it and makes his decision. I enjoyed the realism and the way Ilya was supportive without trying to persuade Shane one way or the other. We don't see the final outcome, but the story covers enough so that we know Shane's decision.

It was a good day. I actually slept 6 straight hours without waking up. People were in lab and engaged. I bounced early and thought well it's still sunny, let me do the laundry today (I do it on the weekend) and then go to Jackson for gas/food things I don't have, don't need, but want.

I have big heavy clothes so I need all three washers including the hated front loader. I plug in my quarters and go to turn it on cool water instead of blazing hot and...someone has broken off the temperature control knob. Well that's fun.

Put quarters in the big heavy sheets one and realize...it says out of order in small letters on the screen. Won't give me back my quarters and I REALLY want the sheets clean if the power goes out this weekend. Now I'm yanking stuff from the middle washer before it gets wet and shove the sheets in.

Go to the car to run to Jackson while this washes. My battery dies. I'm praying it's the battery (AGAIN) and not my alternator. Call AAA. It'll be at least an hour (well at least now I can finish laundry before leaving. Call Dad to wish him a happy birthday and tell him I'm stranded in the RV park's back alley (AGAIN. My battery has died back here before). He arrives an hour later and he has the big wrecker that could haul three cars. I feel bad as he has to back it out.

I race my dead-battery to Auto Zone and the guy looks at me we can't replace them in a honda CR-V. What? You have before. What year is it 2015. Oh, yeah we CAN do that. Over 2018 we can't because if you make one mistake which is too easy to do and the computer dies. I have never heard of this and resolve to ask Dad who obsesses over cars and he has a CR-V too (he had never heard of it and is now on a mission to find out) Frick and Frack might just be incompetent because he couldn't even get the housing off my battery and needs to get his coworker. He manages it. The terminal cover snaps off. he drops the battery in sideways, barely gets it back out. I drive off 230$ poorer just happy they didn't destroy my car (try Advanced Auto next time. Also they couldn't find me in the system. I've been there so many times....)

Kroger's of course is a nightmare. And the assholes in Jackson jumped the gas price over 30 cents since the day before (should have got that at work where they haven't) I get all kinds of things I can eat cold if the power goes out. That'll be tomorrow morning's excitement. I go to the library to get the book that was on hold.

I get home and my computer is off. Did I already once?!? Nothing else is blinking but firefox and edge both say thanks for updating so I think an update was forced.

I bought myself Archway Ginger snaps as a treat. They one of the few processed cookies I actually like. I now have a tons of salami, PB&J, and hard boiled eggs plus apples. I will have food.

Saying a little prayer for everyone's power.

But there was one good thing today beside Dad liking the gift I gave him. It's also my book birthday. Check it o ut!!

We get to see Iori and Reo's first encounter. Iori answered his calls for help and then took him in.

Whenever his mother was around, he was selfish and spoiled to a fault, wanting to reaffirm that she cared about him despite her absence. Eventually, she stopped coming home altogether; then, his father vanished, too, and when he did, he left behind a mountain of debt with which Reo got saddled. Reo was the only one left, and he soon spent his days being hounded by debt collectors.

I understand why Reo and Satsuki get along the least now. They started off on the wrong foot and have different ways of communicating. But it seems Satsuki managed to draw Reo out of his shell.

One of the reasons Zen got into training so much is because of a scar? Whooa what? Zen was a straight-laced police officer who went undercover in the Suiseki?! Reo was at a loss for words. He was good at people-pleasing; he had learned how to flirt and sweet talk from his father, and while that was certainly a method of winning over young people and pretty girls, it wasn't exactly how you attracted people to a festival.

Hokusai's great at drawing, somehow not surprised. Reo opens up a little. They'll think we're just freeloaders. And if I can't do anything on my own, if I'm a freeloader, then there's no way I'll be able to stay here...

So the Suiseki were giving money to Alter Trigger because it was supposedly going into researching ways to use phantometal to help the heard-of-hearing communicate?? Iori had doubts though.

"Zen... you can't tell him everything or else he'll go run off and blab, but if you just tell him one thing at a time, he'll go all-out to do whatever you tell him. And he's got a whole lot of faith in me, too... he's a real interesting guy,"

Such an apt description.

So Hokusai's rap name comes from what Iori calls him, Satsuki just heard 'Gaia' from somewhere and liked it, I'm surprised Reo was able to hold back from laughing his ass off.

Satsuki rushing ahead to save Reo, my heart. 😭❤️️ And I'm even more sad about Old Man Suiseki and the others deaths now.

Reo imagining seeing all of those who died around Suiseki's grave made me tear up like daamn.

Thanks to this story I learned that yakuza are involved in summer festivals.

Akan Yatsura comes from Old Man Suiseki commenting on how the boys are. I need a bandaid for my heart now. Really good story.

MSN report here, from last year. I just learned this today. If I can stop anyone else from being exposed, it's worth a reblog.

The dishes in question are basically ubiquitous in kitchens I have known and loved, so that's not great.

Okay, now I'm just confused. The lead levels are both a) high and b) technically legal, and it may not be leaching in any case due to the processes used. I hate living in an era where I don't know which of the seven million articles titled essentially the same thing are bullshit, and which are trustworthy. I figured MSN might fact-check, but apparently Corelle has never issued a recall per se, just a "Okay, we guess you might as well buy new stuff, because it's true there's lead in the old stuff." This info from this article.

For reasons I am too tired to get in to, there ended up being no need or reason for me to be in London for work today. The thing I had been dreading didn't happen...not today anyway.

I sorta got my wish of not working much today. Viva la huelga. I got home in time to walk Teddy this afternoon, and both of the others could make it too. It was Vee's first time in a while and Teddy was beside himself to see us all.

I spent some time being annoyed by having bad to pointlessly stay away a second night. I could only conclude that the real reason I had to be here today is just so I could watch Heated Rivalry last night (it's on HBO in the U.S. so not easy to get here). And that cheered me up.

Today I wanted to stay home from work, so I did. To celebrate myself, I made my favorite vegetarian tortilla soup and ate it with Wisconsin Organic Fontina that I got at HEB (before people panicking over the weather cleared the shelves).

It’s pretty good. It is extremely smooth and mild when you first bite into it, but then you find that it’s a bit crumbly and has a slightly sharp flavor. I actually really liked it. I had it with Hatch green chili pita chips and spicy pumpkin tortilla soup and it was a good combo.

Hi! I'm new to this community, here from a

sixbeforelunch post. I've been using planners on and off for many years now, the main difference year to year being whether I found a planner I could afford and liked enough, because I'm shallow as hell. Having an actual planner works much better for me than setting up weekly spreads; I still get the Monday ritual of decorating the week's pages, but I don't have to fuck around with a ruler (for the most part).

Last year I found and began using a weekly spread planner from Kokonote, and got really into stickers.

This year I swapped to a page-a-day model, and I'm still learning what does and doesn't work for me in terms of decoration. Each page has a checklist on the side and a portion that's dotted. This is what I've done so far:

EDIT to say two things: most of my stickers are from TEDi, who have a veritable fucking mess of a corner that I often just crouch and make my way through trying to drop as few things as possible off their hooks; and I am also on Finch, if anyone else uses that? It's been a really nice companion to the planner this year. My friend code is LWQMXDV9J56. I think you get a ghostie micropet if you sign up and tell them I sent you, and I get app currency or something I think.

A bit of archiving, a lot of something. I realized that despite it being two and a half years since I started the new site, I hadn't moved any of my FFVII fic. Not a bit. I have now moved my two Crisis Core fics and will work on the rest sooner than later. But then again, I also had no Kingdom Hearts until I was nudged. (I think some of it is the sheer size of those categories? And knowing this is still a multi-year effort. Even if I manage five fics (or chapters thereof) a day for an entire year, that's only 1825 items, which is nothing compared to the ~2500-not-counting-chaptered-stuff on AO3 + all the original fic I couldn't post there because AO3 sucks and everything I've written since mid-2023. So, like, catching up is a task for the bastard child of Hercules and Sisyphus.)

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned some of the everything about my 2003 NaNo novel, too. How I went to archive it, realized I'd always meant to finish editing and expanding it a bit, but actually re-write it - meant to do it last year and, uh, last year happened. Anyway, dead set on doing it this year! Except the main copy was on the website that's gone. Oh, well, surely it's on my journal! Nope! Okay, to the Wayback Machine! Nope! I dug out the old php files and dumped it into some private entries for my future use.

Main things to do with it:
- less padding smut
- remove friend's cameo character
- words we don't use anymore
- remove some of the real-world canons and substitute some fictional ones*
- tighten up the expies a bit
- yeah idek it just needs a lot and that's okay

*the main reason for this aside from unlimited plot potential with the fictional fandoms is the story is set in 2003 and had plenty of commentary on things like Guilty Gear which made sense in 2003 but are a little jarring in the Year of Our Dude 202X.

I don't know if it'll end up being 50k words still, or shorter or longer. My original thoughts on the story were that it was too short for NaNo, and it possibly was hence a lot of weird padding and things just being... weird.

I also have one KH fic and one FFVII fic that I didn't archive on AO3 for Reasons and I'll have to eventually make decisions with those, too...

threesentenceficathon fills for The Goes Wrong Show, it occurred to me that I could probably use my 'unethical sexuality experimentation' fill as the first scene of a longer fic, perhaps incorporating a couple of my other fills.

The Ties that Bind Us (Biggles, slightly ambiguous Biggles/EvS)
A very fun, sensual fic in which they are trying to squirm out of ropes tying them together, while also talking about Feelings.

And I got THREE gifts in Holiday Airdrop, the Biggles exchange I run! This time around, all are gen and Algy & EvS-focused.

Soft Landings, a wonderfully well realized, hurt/comforty AU in which Algy is the first person on the team to encounter Erich during Buries a Hatchet.

A Silver-Topped Cane is a lovely little post-Terai bit of comfort and bonding, in which Erich offers advice and maybe a little commiseration while Algy is healing.

Forge is deliciously iddy and visceral h/c in which EvS and Algy are handcuffed together in the desert.

Between the two exchanges, I wrote five fics, including some pairings I don't normally write! I'm looking forward to getting to 'fess up to them.

My hobbies are: I write both original work and fanfic, I'm playing more videogames these days, and I'm easing my way back into doing art and being outdoorsy. I like working out, going for walks, and listening to crickets, moving water, and birdsong. I'm athletic and specifically enjoy swimming, weightlifting, yoga, and spinning. I was into dwrp for a long time and still enjoy doing private storylines with friends. I love trying new things and will do almost anything once!

My fandoms are: Attack on Titan (I do not like the ending or think it was well-written, and because you can find those types in this fandom: I do not think Eren was right), Animorphs, Naruto, TWEWY, Tanith Lee's books esp the Unicorn Triology, Gravity Falls, Eyeshield 21, Blade of the Immortal, Dungeon Meshi, D.Gray-man, Lilo & Stitch. If I liked something once, I will probably have a soft spot for it just about forever.

I'm looking to meet people who: are chill and kind and value being kind to others. Nerdy types who like writing and book talk. Thoughtful people. Shared fandoms are far from necessary; I don't fanpost that much. I enjoy getting a small window into lives different from mine and my goal is to make friendly connections with others and be kind c:

I had nightmares all night so I was hoping for that snow day. I pull the curtains and nothing so I don't check my phone. Heck when I rolled out at 9 AM it was 40. I get to work and I need my phone to get onto my teaching software and work email. to my surprise the sheriff has texted. Now good ol' sheriff frazier is loosey goosey with declaring snow emergencies. And it's not just level 1. No it had gotten up to level 3. That means I shouldn't have been on the road. PERIOD.

I'm baffled. It's 40. It's dry. Why is it level 3. Why do I have 20 emails saying they can't be there. Why did we close two branches of our campus north of me? What the hell happened 10 miles away from me? I ask everyone who drove much further. NO ONE saw any winter, not even north in Jackson. So this must have been the narrowest band storm in existence.

Now I know almost no one from the midwest to the east coast is escaping this weekend's snow. A coworker's daughter works at Kroger and you can't even order food. They're completely booked out. I do hope I can get up there tomorrow. Okay I HAVE food. I'm a bit of a food hoarder by nature. My real mission is to cook off several meals in case the power goes out. Given my power has been going out for no reason, I'm worried. I'm fine with being snowed in. Without power, much less so. And remember everyone fill your car's tank if you can. If you live where winter is, don't let that go below a half.

Today was annoying AF though. The lesson capture software won't work even with IT fucking around with it for 15 minutes. And yesterday (if I mentioned it) only half my class was in the online homework section so I have the book store manager look into this and she tells me I never asked for this (then why is half of them in there?) and I wanted a paper book. No I didn't ask for that and do you need me to send back YOUR emails saying you had set up the online purchase? When I got back from class I got an email 'it'll be fixed tomorrow.' Yeah...
