2026 Schedule
Jan. 22nd, 2026 09:06 amNo True Pair Four Character Mini-Round Dates:
Signups Open - March 9th
Prompts Posted - March 16th
Posting - March 26th-31st
Amnesty - Thereafter
No True Pair Eight Character Full-Round Dates:
Signups Open - August 1st
Prompts Posted - August 13th
Posting - September 1st-28th
Amnesty - Thereafter
As usual, this is a rough schedule and I may need to adjust dates a day or two in either direction as we draw nearer (mostly regarding the September round) but we're on for the year!
I have added a guideline to the profile and will reiterate it when we get closer to events - do not post anything created with GenAI. It is not in the spirit of the community and is not welcome. Thank you.

Jan. 22nd, 2026 11:51 amIn my headlong, desperate fall into the Goes Wrong fandom, I've discovered a Twitter account for the character of Robert Grove, with the wonderful username of @robertgoodactor, operating mainly between 2013 and 2015. The account has apparently been mentioned in past programmes for the Goes Wrong plays, so it's presumably official!
Twitter is now a barely accessible mess, and I'm not sure how much longer it'll be possible to read Robert's tweets, so I've dug out my favourites and reproduced them in this entry!
( Official Twitter posts from Robert Grove. )
Tracking down all the scattered Cornley Drama Society lore continues to be a challenge, but I love that every character detail I'm rewarded with is absolutely stupid.
While I'm noting down semi-obscure Cornley lore, here's a short exchange I stumbled across in the script for the stage version of Peter Pan Goes Wrong, in which Chris and Robert try to show each other up in front of the audience while introducing the play:
Chris: This generous cash injection has meant that tonight's production will certainly outshine our rather underfunded Christmas show that Robert directed: Jack and the Bean.
Robert: In one of Chris's productions, due to an ill-timed haircut, Rapunzel had to be imprisoned in a bungalow.
Chris: Indeed, that was almost as bad as when Robert insisted on using a real cat in his production of Puss in Boots, which became known amongst the company as 'Puss Who Was Occasionally in Boots, but Often Refused to Wear His Boots, and Then Bit a Child'.

Jan. 22nd, 2026 12:44 pmToday I am thankful for...
- Grocery stores that deliver. Flink only delivers -- they don't have physical stores -- and has the best bread.
- Cat cuddles. Especially, waking up next to Ticia, and getting nuzzles from Bronx while I'm holding him.
- Weird crowdfunded luggage and occasional widgets.
- Getting back in touch (though I still don't put as much effort into it as I should).
- Getting back into walking (same).
NO thanks for scooter repair places that don't respond to their contact forms or email.
Other people trying to do the right thing in grief need some help - please read. Thank you
Jan. 22nd, 2026 05:27 am There's someone who is trying to raise funds for memorial services and to bury his brother who died of exposure last weekend. I'll just say what I said on bluesky:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/honoring-harold-lightfeather-benny-boy
Thank you.
And thank you also for sharing the info elsewhere as well if you can.
His family wants to do memorial services in Minneapolis and in Wisconsin where he was born and will be buried.
If you've felt grief, if you've comforted people in grief, please help these folks.
(My own mother died this morning.
If you were gonna bring me a hot dish,
please give here instead.)

3 Sentence Ficathon, part three (all B5 fixit edition)
Jan. 21st, 2026 11:44 pm9. More scenes from a Babylon 5 fixit AU.
I ended up doing a number of additional prompt fills from the same universe as this fill (#4 in the previous post, major series spoilers).
( 1000 words or so of fixit snippets from the same post-canon AU )
10. And while I'm keeping the spoiler stuff confined to its own post, another B5 spoiler fixit AU based off "War Without End."
( Under this cut here )

Missing missing reasons!
Jan. 22nd, 2026 01:07 amDear Annie: I'm just heartbroken. My son moved out last year, and he never talked to me about anything before he moved. We were so close, and we always talked. But all of a sudden, he packed up and moved out with no explanation. He had met someone a year prior to that. I met her for a second, and that was it. I do know where he is living but he doesn't know that I know. He has a new baby boy; I don't even know his name, yet he is my grandson. I know that he has two stepdaughters, but I don't know their names either.
I kept trying to call him but get no response. Now his phone is disconnected. I'm so lost and confused as well as upset. I miss him dearly.
He is my only child. He did a great job in school and had his own business after he graduated from high school. I am trying so hard to go on with my life, but it's so hard not knowing how he is, or whether he is safe, healthy and happy. He was a very good kid, and now he's a man. I just hope and pray that he will come around some day. -- Mom Is Lost

Jan. 22nd, 2026 12:11 amDEAR ABBY: Our 24-year-old daughter is getting married in 10 months. My wife is invited to the wedding, but I am not, and I am furious. The groom's family is paying for the trip, but they say I am not invited "for financial reasons."
I don't have a great relationship with my daughter. But that isn't the point. I told my wife that if the roles were reversed and she was excluded, I would not go. This may be a deal-breaker for me. It's apparent that our marriage doesn't mean as much to my wife as it does to me. What are your thoughts? -- ELIMINATED IN TEXAS

Jan. 21st, 2026 09:53 pmrendered a full picture in krita and didnt even think to touch csp . .. ....
these brushes are really good .... when they add a proper text tool i may not need to emulate csp on every computer i own anymore ...
also, tried a mint live usb in the 2 in 1 computer bc i really just dont use it at all. and the surface pro is totally dead now. the keyboard doesnt work and half of the touchscreen doesnt work. its cooked beyond cooked. it may be time to strip it for ram and make a billion dollars.
anyways, i already have one dedicated microslop pc for fortnite and rufus, so i can have a working 2 in 1 that isnt gay.... and it reeeallllyy didnt like it. idk why. im gonna try cinnamon out i think. kde is nice but i like mint. its not going full wayland yet which i can appreciate bc gdi i just got used to x11!!!! now youre putting something new in my face? im gonna try it and if my laptop hates it again ill try lmde...then kde debian. i like kde...but theres lots of cute skeuomorphic cinnamon themes now...and i get all the mint fun stuff. we shall see!
ok spoiler i ended up trying it again and cinnamon is pleasantly surprising me. i love how user friendly it is, my pen works ootb, and even has built in sensitivity and a gui to configure it, which is awesome! but i dont like that i can't scroll on the main menu with my finger. sooo im gonna not install it. kde here i come. its a damn shame because i love love love love the mint x theme on cinnamon. basically my ideal touch interface.
kde has an actual sensitivity curve built in, which is crazypants, ill be frank. im gonna think on it more before nuking windows again, i wonder if id be able to copy the whole thing over, key and all.
also, finished the chainsawman anime. its good. i like how denji keeps getting used. hes really pathetic and its moe!

Just books
Jan. 21st, 2026 09:58 pmbecause no one, not even me, cares that the heat is almost out again at work. Dad's like you've been saying this for a decade. Because it's true every winter. Let's never fix a thing at my school.
Though yesterday was strange. I was walking in the hall of my building when a young lady says 'I love your hair.' I thank her, pleased. 3 seconds later....was she on the phone with someone else? she's not one of MY students. Why did she say that? My hair is awful. Literally my entire life I was bullied for what my hair was like. I find it hard to accept praise for it.
Also I'm on a fanfic reading hiatus until I clear off the half dozen library holds.
What I Just Finished Reading:
The Southern Book Club's Guide to Vampire Hunting - hated this
Queen in Comics! By Emmanuel Marie - not a bad prose/graphic novel mix little bio. How, I don't know, but I had no idea Freddie was raised in the Zoasterian faith
Werewolf at Dusk and other Stories - David Small - three short stories, illustrated by Small.
What I am Currently Reading:
A Curious Kind of Magic - so far an interesting not-quite-cozy mystery
Sugar and Vice - oh look another baker cozy mystery, this one set in Florida. Even with the eye rollingly stereotypical amateur sleuth this is sort of fun.
What I Plan to Read Next: La Grand Familia and Zombie Day Care and the library books including one on Sally Ride and one Alison Bechdel who did Fun House. I hope this is better than that thing. (I needed a book about a character who does pilates. This graphic novel has that)

How is this even a question?
Jan. 21st, 2026 09:55 pmDear Eric: My fiancé and I are facing an impasse regarding the guest list for our upcoming wedding. I want to exclude his brother's (the best man) wife from the invitation list.
She consistently refuses to engage with me socially, going no further than a brief "hi." There has been no conflict; she simply does not converse with me. Although, if I ask her about herself or what's going on in her life she will answer, but there's no back and forth. I doubt she even knows my name.
For context, my fiancé is Hungarian, and his family is small. Although she speaks English fluently, she is the only family member who never attempts to talk to me or ask me any questions. While they invited me to their wedding a few months ago, I believe it was purely out of obligation.
My fiancé says that excluding her will create drama. He has acknowledged her behavior is "mean-spirited" in the past, yet he excuses it as shyness. Saying she took years to warm up to him. I find this a poor excuse for a complete lack of basic manners, and I am unwilling to have a guest at my wedding who will not speak to me.
I have told my fiancé that he needs to discuss this with his brother, but he has not done so, and invitations are about to be sent out. I am intent on sending a clear message by not including her. And from now and until our wedding there won't be any more chances to interact as we don't live in the same country.
Am I overreacting or is it reasonable to save my money while also slighting her.
